    Grandfather Brian departed this life
    It was on Saint Patrick's Day
    He started off to the next world without ever asking his way
    Leaving me all his riches.
    He had a great deal of wealth do you see.
    A pair of his old leather breeches all buttoned up and down to the knee.
    Chorus.
    Hurrah for my Grandfather Brian,
    I wish he were living, So sure for every day he would be dying.
    He would leave me ten times as much more.

    He left me a (bog) bog for a garden.
    But one night there came a flood.
    And when I went out in the morning
    I went to my eyes in the mud.

    He left me a mighty fine clock too.
    Brass wheels mad out of wood.
    He left me a stool to sit down on,
