- Boil two cups of buttermilk well. Put one spoonful of butter into the milk. Then put in one or two teaspoonfuls of sugar and a pinch of salt with some ginger. It is a great cure for a cold or a sore neck.
- Boil six or seven potatoes and peel and mash them. Then get four cupsful of flour in a basin, add bread soda to flour and mix well. Mix in potatoes, add salt, wet with sour milk and knead it well. Roll out thinly and put it into a hot oven or pan and bake for half an hour. These are eaten while hot well buttered.
