    touching it with our hands. We put two nuts on the hob. We give one a boy's name and the other a girl's. If they stay together the pair will be married but if they separate quickly they never will. We have a barm brack containing a ring, a coin, a piece of timber and a pea for supper. The person who gets the ring is sure to be married. The pea stands for poverty the coin for wealth and the timber for death. We all try to avoid the pea and the timber.
