- My Grandfather John Fitzpatrick who died in 1891 aged 82 years, often told us that he made the first grave in Glasnevin. A little girl died before it was ready; she was kept in a vault and was the first to be buried there. He was employed there during the terrible cholera outbreak; he said that the people were taken away and buried before the life had left them. He also spoke of Robert Emmet being buried in ( Bullys acre ) old Glasnevin He was taken away by four men to some priory. I thought Rathmines, but a letter I saw in the Evening Paper about Rathfarnham makes me think I was mistaken. He spoke about some door in a wall and in some corner near this Emmet was buried
The Four men were probably employed as grave diggers(continues on next page)- Collector
