- (continued from previous page)You would see the women making pan fulls of them. The fire used for cooking them was made of holly which decorated the houses at xmas and which was kept for this purpose. This was an old custom which has died out now.
On all Saints night long ago it was a custom to leave a bowl of water and a bundle of sticks by the fire side for Saints to drink and heat themselves.
Wooden vessels were used and big earthen tea cups and pots also.- Collector
