- KilloughIn the townland of Killough near Killough Bridge, there is a little field in which stood the Church of Killough ie. Kill of the Lough or Cill of the Virgin. No vestige of Church or Church Yard now remains. On the south brink of a stream near William Gaskin's House, stands a moate 24' high & 100 yds in circumference. It is called Cnoc na nDiabhal: Hill of the devils.There is another small moate a furlong north west of this on the brink of the nearest stream; it is in the shape of a coffin 18 yds long, 4 broad & 4 high.There is a very handsome moate less than a furlong north west of the latter, on the commons of Ballinteskin 10' high & 44 yds in circumference at base. It was surrounded by a mound 82 yds in circumference.(continues on next page)
