- The Local Landlord was Lord Downshire. He was looked upon as a good Landlord, but his agents were very strict. Many people were evicted from their houses by the agents. There was one agent named Arthur Owen who did what he liked. The evicted people used to build huts of mud and stones and live in them. This landlord inherited the lands from his ancestors. The land was divided into farms by the agents. If the people did not salute the agents they were put out of their houses. Once a family were thrown out of their home in the morning and the house was knocked down, but it was rebuilt and they were back in it by night. That same house is there in Lacken to this day with people living in it.
