  1. The sun
    When there are streamers from the sun it is a sign of rain. When it goes down red in the evening it is a sign of fine weather
    The moon
    If there is a circle round the moon it is the sign of a storm. The further the circle is out from the moon the nearer the storm If the moon be on its back it denotes rain
    The stars
    When the stars are running it is going to rain. If there are a lot of stars in the sky it is a sign of frost.
    The rainbow
    The rainbow denotes a change in the weather. If there are two rainbows together it is the sign of a storm. If the two ends of a rainbow are in the one townsland it indicates a death
    A rainbow in the morning
    Is the shepherd's warning.
    A rainbow at night
    Is the shepherd's delight.
    The clouds
    If the clouds are red in the morning it is the sign of a wet day, and if they are red in the evening it is the sign of a fine day When the swallows fly low in the summer it denotes rain. Midges bite when there is going to be a storm. If there is goat-hair on the sky it is a sign of wind. If soot falls
