- It is said that under the Round Tower in the graveyard in Glendalough there is a crick of gold.
When the monks and bishops were flying from the Danes in the 7th century in Glendalough they hid their gold and golden vessels under the Round Tower. There are a lot of secret passages and tunnels leading from the Round Tower to different places. There is a passage from the Round Tower to the foot of Derrybawn and there is an other leading to the cathedral and to our Lady's church and there are many others. The monks used to escape through these passages from the Danes. These tunnels are full of golden vessels.- Collector
