    and this church. One time Saint Kevin was praying in Reigfeart Church with his arms stretched out and his hands opened, a blackbird came and dropped her eggs into one of his hands, and so as not to disturb the bird he kept his arms stretched out and his hands opened until the eggs were hatched. That is why Saint Kevin is always holding a blackbird in his hand when he is seen in pictures.
    There is a Monastery in Glendalough it is about a half a mile from Saint Kevins Kitchen, it is one of the biggest and nicest of all the churches it was built by the monks after Saint Kevin died. There are beautiful carvings on the altar and on the doorways, there were beautiful carved stones in this church and when it was plundred they were taken into Saint Kevins Kitchen to be preserved.
