- (continued from previous page)they fish about 15 miles off all for herrings and then later on in the year they go out late a half more or so close to the shore.
Herring and mackeral fishing is worked by night and Trawl fish and line fish by day.
The reason is this the Trawl is dragged at the spead to beat the tide and is formed like a bag.
The rope of the trawl traps the fish and swims up just to strike the net for it is going faster than the tide.
The lines are set through the tide about 6 miles long, and a hook with a bait on it.
The herring see the net in the day they cannot see by night and that is how he is caught.
