- The chief Chemicals that were made in the Arklow Chemical works were:-
Sulphuric Acid, extracted from Sulphure ore.
Nitric Acid, a composition of Sulphuric Acid and an extraction from Nitric of Soda.
Picric Acid (lydite explosive) and Guncotton.
Nitro Glyasrine, Cordite Gelignite, Dynamite and an explosive known as Arkite, called after Arklow.
There were two big chimneys which served as landmarks until a few months ago when they were blown down.
