would begin, the bride and groom would dance, and the straw boys and other young girls. The fiddler would supply the music.
The brides relitations usually presented her with a fancy cake. This cake she would divide among the bachelors and old maids. They would put the piece under them and sleep on it that night. It is said that in their dreams they would hear if they were to be married during the next year, and if so they would see also the face of the persons to whom they would be married. This was called the charm of the brides cake. The wedding lasted for a night and day. At the end of that time the bridge and groom would ride a horse home.
