    properly, a prayer-book is put under the chin. The person is laid out in a bed.
    The bed is usually covered with white valances
    A clean, white sheet is put on it, and the person is laid on this sheet. Then another sheet is put over the body. Then candles are lighted on a table in the room, and the neighbours come to the wake.
    A supply of clay pipes, tobacco and snuff is got for the wake.
