- 152Local Herbs. The most harmful weeds are Pressure, Nettles, Thistles and Crowsfoot. The nettle, and the thistle grow on good land. The former when boiled cures measels. The flower of the thistle is purple. It is also very picky. The Docken grows on bad land and spreads quickly.By May Tracey

Darravona. - Local Herbs. There are some harmful weeds on our farm. The names of them are Chicken weed(s), Dief Nettle, Crow foot, and [?]. Nettles are good for people. If you get a sting of a nettle you get a leaf off a Docan(s) and rub it to where you get the sting. None of these weeds are used for poisoning animals.By Seamus Timmon,
