- It grows on bog land. It is very harmful by making land poorer. It is a medicinal plant. It cures the jaundice. It was "stept" in buttermilk and drank. It often is successful
- It is harmful to crops. It will grow in any kind of land, but it is generally found in dry ground. It is very bad for oats, and if it is allowed to seed, it must be removed from the oats. It is called by this name, because it's shank is of a red colour.
