- Long ago people used to dye their own wool, and manufacture it into friezes, and flannon and blankets, and all other woolen materials. The way they used to dye the wool for frieze was first to boil it in alum for one hour by keeping it turned now and again. According to so many lbs of wool then take a half lb of logwood to every two lbs of wool, and an ounce of copperous
