  1. The different kinds of bread in olden times were :- Oatmeal bread, Potato cake and boxty bread. Bread was made from oats and wheat grown locally.
    Oatneal Bread.
    Oatmeal bread is made in this way:- Get some oatmeal, a little flour, salt, sugar and lard. Mix well with some soft water. Bake in front of the fire on a breadiron. When hard it is fit for use.
    Potato Bread.
    Potato bread is made by getting some boiled potatoes, peeling and kneading them out with a little flour and salt. Then spread them out thinly and cut out in squares and bake on a griddle or pan.
    Boxty Bread.
    Boxty bread is made from potatoes. The first thing you do is to get potatoes and wash them and peel them. Then grate them and squeeze through a fine cloth. Take some boiled
