    Recipe for "Flummery.
In making flummery first put some coarse oatmeal and a little groats in a basin or crock. Then cover it well with warm water, and let remain for a week or more until it has an acid or sour taste. Next get an oven or pot, and squeeze and strain the liquid into it. Put it on the fire, stirring all the time, till it thickens. Boil for an hour or two. Serve it hot or cold with sweet milk.
