    Later on, National Schools were established through out the country. There were teachers appointed in these schools by the Government.
    Mr M. Cooke Killanue Crosskeys Co Cavan remembers an old school situated in Derry Cahan over 80 years then in ruins. Consisted of one room, thatched roof mud walls. He attend the old Rassan School, traces of which still exists but was a shed in "Kelly Mee's Field" Rassan. Also made of mud walls + thatched. Subjects taught to him were the "three Rs" Agriculture + Religious Knowledge
