    aged sixteen, a native of Kilderry.
    There is a small island in the middle of the lake on which the locals used to hold a dance every Sunday in the Summer season. It happened this Sunday that Mr. Smyth a police-man and Uncle of the drowned boy was home on holidays from Dublin.
    This man's brother owned a boat and left it in his charge for the day so that he could carry who ever he liked to and from the island.
    The police-man being very fond of his nephew Bennie said as they were about to leave the shore "No matter who wants to get into the boat Bennie must get in" with that Bennie got in and then the boat quickly filled up with people and was soon crossing the calm waters in the direction of the island.
