    on his right hand side it was all right. If a person met seven magpies on the road together it was as follows:-
    One for sorrow,
    Two for joy
    Three for a Wedding
    Four for a pie
    Five for silver
    Six for gold and
    Seven for a Story that is never to be told.
    There is an old superstitiion in this district in regard to the first litter a young cat has. People do not consider it lucky to rear any or keep any of this litter and so they are drowned.
