    Local Marriage Customs
Marriages took place at all times throughout the year in Lislea except, of course, Lent and Advent. There was naturally a rush at Shrovetide before the "forbidden time" set in.
Monday of health, Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all.
Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses and
    Saturday no luck atall.
The bride was supposed to wear:-
    Something old, something new,
    Something borrowed and something blue.
After the ceremony the menfolk assembled outside the church on horse-back with their wives seated behind them.
