- The milk drank long ago was goat's milk. A bonnach is three cakes of oaten bread with a hole in the middle of each cake. when a rich man's daughter would be getting married the three cakes would be hung round her neck so that if she would get hungry on the way to the Chapel she could eat some of the oaten bread.
