   and a red coat. He wore a cap which was broad at the bottom and going up into a point at the top. He is a timid little fellow. One night a man said he saw a leipreachan sitting on a rock very vexed looking. The man asked the fairy where would he get some gold. The fairy told him if he would get heather and make a besom for him he would give him a crock of gold. The man went to gather the heather and when he came back to the rock the fairy was gone.
   Once upon a time there was a man. He was going home from his ceilidhe one night. He heard a noise like the ticking of a watch. He looked round him and saw a little man hammering a shoe. Well my little man you are working hard. O not half as hard as that felow below says the fairy. Thats not the way says the man you must come with me. He brought him home and shut him in a barn. He kept him in the barn for three days. He gave the man money every morning and begged of him to let him out. At last the man brought him out and says I am going to let you out my little man. The fairy clapped him on the back. After some time a hump grew on his back and before he died it was the biggest part of him.
