    elephant ran across the road and his lamp went out. There is an old church beside the town but it is now covered with ivy. The roof was thatched. There was no door on it but a gate. The ministers of this church was buried in it.

    I mind the time when Irish men were proud and so do you,
    But now they have lost their decency,
    Their pride is in relief they'll drow pauper's pension and cry out for free beef.
    Just go into Bailieboro, that flourishing little town, and peep into the register and see what name's are down.
    There down through rascality, and down in need I am sur.
    But never let your name go down on this list
    If the devil was at your door.
    For they'll drive you into poverty, And scandalize you too,
    Hold up your (hed) head like an Irish man,
    And you surely will pull through.
    You'll meet with men going out to sign, no matter where you go,
