    potatoes are put in boxes and placed in a dark house where they will sprout quickly. About a week before they are planted they are exposed to the light and sun to toughen the buds. This is called boxing potatoes. Wooden ploughs were used about sixty years ago. There are none left now. Any spades that are used and bought in a shop. The potatoes are split and an eye is left in each part. Then they are put in a heap and lime is put on them. The people in my district help one another in sowing the potatoes. One man lends his horses the first day
