Priests often said Mass in houses whenever they could do so in safety. But there were always guards on the surrounding hillsides. With regard to the question about "Old Churches", I forgot to mention that in penal times there was a chapel known as O'Reilly's chapel in the district. At the present day there stands an old vault which dates back some two-hundred years. Out side the vault is a slab which dates back to 1700.
The vault is situated in the Tullyvin demense and is supposed to be built on the site of the old Church. O Reilly's castle was situated about three hundred yards further down. Marks of the castle are still visible.
