- Mrs Ciuney of the Beehive was an exceptional good walker. She walked to the fair of Arva a distance of thirty miles (and). She bought a cow and also bought a big can. She milked the cow and carried home the can of milk. She brought the cow home also.
- There was a man named Thomas Carroll who used to walk to Dublin. One day there was a bet to see who was the best walker in Co Cavan. He challenged ten men to walk from Cootehill to Dublin a distance of 52 Irish miles and to bring a bottle of whiskey with the mans name on it out of Dublin.(continues on next page)
