  1. There was a man named Thomas Carroll who used to walk to Dublin. One day there was a bet to see who was the best walker in Co Cavan. He challenged ten men to walk from Cootehill to Dublin a distance of 52 Irish miles and to bring a bottle of whiskey with the mans name on it out of Dublin.
