- Marriages take place most frequently before lent and advent. Friday, Saturday, and the month of June are thought unlucky times for marriages. Wednesday is supposed to be a very lucky day.
Matches are made in this district. Money and stock are given as a dowry. A wedding feast is always held in the bride's house. "Straw-boys" visit the house and are sometimes received cordially and sometimes not noticed atall. These boys are dressed in straw, old hats, ribbons and old rags. If they are welcome they go into the house and each one in turn dances the bride. They take drink if they get it(continues on next page)- Collector
