    peoples only food was potatoes and oat meal bread and porridge. In 1846 the potatoes failed and then they had nothing to depend on but the corn.
    They had not much corn either and had no wheat.
    The people would have all starved only for the Government relief. The Government sent loads of indian meal to certain places. One of the places was at Thomas Cooney's, Knockategart, Parish of Laragh and County of Cavan.
