    The people considered this exorbitant and decided to send a deputation to the Headlandlord to voice their grievances. The time they did this was considered opportune as the middle landlord's lease was about to expire.
    However their efforts were fruit-less as the only answers they rec-eived form the head landlord was that he could not be expected to "carry the land on his back with him and what could he do?".
    Meanwhile a man named Brady informed on the people and many families got notice to "quit".
    There was great distress in the colony then but at last someone succeeded in getting Paddy Smith of Carrick-allen (who had influence over the middle landlord having lent him money) to intercede for them.
    There was then a settlement made by which each member of the colony who had cows was given a farm of size according to the number of cows he had. The informer got his choice of the farms
