    Long ago there were, were, no halls for dancing and the young people used to gather to the cross roads and to Carraig a Damsa. This is a level part of mountain with a large rock close by, where the fiddles or music men sat. The young people did not understand how to dance and the older people trained them
    '' Rise upon Suggan and sink upon Gade ''. The word Suggan meant a piece of rowan berry bush tied on one leg and the word Gade meant a piece of hay rope tied on the other leg. In this way they were
