    hare would run out from underneath the cow's feet. He made up his mind to shoot the hare for he suspected it to be a witch. Only silver will shoot a witch.
    One night he loaded his gun with a silver coin. He went to the byre and just as he went in the hare jumped out. He fired and the shot stuck in its leg. By means of the trickling blood from the wound he came to an old house. In he went and found an old woman with her leg on a stool. "I have got you at last you witch you" he said. "you have been taking my butter and milk" She implored him to spare her life. He then loaded his gun and shot her. The milk question never afterwards troubled him.
