- The local fairs are held in the town of Belturbet. They are always held in towns. The pig fairs and horse fairs are held in the streets, but the cattle fairs are held in the fairgreen. The day before the fair, buyers go out to the country and buy cattle to sell in the fair. Mc Carrens's lorry comes to town from Cavan and goes out to cross-road and the farmers bring their pigs and the man take them. The people gets their money by post when the pigs are killed and weighed. There was a fair held every Wednesday for dead pigs but has been abolished by the government.Toll is paid on cattle which are put into the yard(continues on next page)
