  1. The people of olden times made a lot of things that they used.
    They made baskets from rods. Before these rods began to shoot out they were picked and put over the fire for a night or two to save.
    Baskets and calves puckeens were made. The man that made these was called a basket maker.
    He sold these to the neighbours and in the shops.
    Some women made candles and sold them as no other lights were used.
    When goats were killed the tallow was taken and melted
    It was put in a mould and left there till hard
    Three rushes were peeled
