- About one mile from the town of Kingscourt, is the ruins of the old baronial mansion of the Moores. The mansion was a long narrow structure. No vestige of it now remains with the exception of the foundations and the pillars of the gateway leading from the country road and a number of tall old pine and ash trees. One member of the family - before the Union - was a noted lawyer. His son Will Moore B.A. entered the Presbyterian church and in 1768 was appointed to take charge of Breaky Congregation near Kingscourt. The church was a small one having only two windows and a thatched roof. The old church was demolished afterwards and the stones used to erect a wall around the graveyard. This graveyard is still used as a burial ground.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
