About sixty years ago there lived in Newtown a man named Martin Nally. One night he was coming home from rambling and he had a pack of cards in his pocket. He met a man on the road, beside a grave-yard. He asked Martin Nally to play a game of cards. He agreed. They were playing for a while and when they were going to go home Martin Nally noticed that it was turkey's feet the man had and then he knew that it was the devil that was in it. Martin ran away and the devil ran after him, until he ran into a church. Martin had to stay in the church until morning. When it was daylight he went out of the church and the devil was now gone and then Martin went home. - Old Customs of Long Ago
