A red sky at morning Shepherds warning - When the South wind blows that is a sign of rain. From the north comes frosty weather, from the west showery weather and from the sleet. When the plover is seen flying inland that is the sign that Winter is in. When there is a mackerel sky that is a sign of fine weather. When there is a starry sky and a moonlight night that is the sign of fine weather.
