If the butter does not make for the people they would put a piece of a plough in the fire. If anyone comes to the house for milk salt is put into the milk the way the fairies would not like the fat of the milk.
- Long ago the old people used to send a lump of butter in around to all the houses in the parish. Before they would make the butter they would throw a horse nail into the churn so that the fairies would not take the butter.
