- Saint Bridget was a great Irish Saint. People have great devotion to her and on Saint Bridget's Eve they make a wooden cross and tack it on to the ceiling and leave it there for ever. She is known as Mary of the Gael. There is a lovely blessed well at Liscannor where people go there and perform several rounds praying all the time. An eel is supposed to be seen in the well at certain times, and if you have any bodily ailment at the time you see him you are sure to be cured. There are two lovely statues of Saint Bridget there, one was given by a woman who was cured of some terrible sickness.
