- The "trawn" is the insect that attacks the potatoes. It attacks the "sciollan" when it is young and prevents it from growing. The remedy for this is "Trawn Water" which is got from the Friars. It is sprinkled on a piece of bread at each corner of the field and two sticks are laid on the bread in the form of a cross.
