    Bhíodh bean déirce eile darbh ainm dí Máire ag dul mór thímcheall na h-áite agus maidin crúaidh seaca tháing sí go tig feirmóirí agus thug na madraí fuithí agus leagadís cómh lúath is eirigheadh sí. Sa deireadh deirig léi imteacht uatha agus dubhairt sí:-
    "Bocht an bhaile é Barra na h-Uidhre,
    Na clocha ceangailte is na madraí sgaoilte,
    Is Máire bocht treasgaithe chómh mear
    Is deirigheadh sí."
