    thatched roofs. This thatch was made from straw.
    Half-doors were very common in those days. Even at the present day they are in all the old houses.
    The fire was placed on one side of the kitchen. Turf from the bog was the main fuel used by the people in the fire.
    In the old days they had beds in the kitchen. These beds were called settle-beds.
