Song
“They first got up a hockey club, next a dancing class, and a gallant band of cyclists, all Ireland can't surpass.”
They first got up a hockey club, next a dancing class,
And a gallant band of cyclists, all Ireland can't surpass.
Some of them had the best machines, that was upon the roll,
For the tonguing of their axles could be heard at the north Pole.
II
On the road last Sunday evening, there was an awful scene,
Two cyclists collided and smashed their good machines.
The lady, having neither bell nor brake,
She came at him unaware,
She hit him right with all her might,
And rose him in the air.
III
Whenever he descended his nerves were greatly shook,
He got up and looked around him and saw both machines were broke.
