  2. There is hardly a townland in which there is not some one famous for some deed which he did or which he can do. There is a man named Joe Gilhouly who earns his living tramping from door to door through the country. He could jump into the lake and swim from one end to the other without the least bother. There never passes a day in which he does bathe even if there were ice and snow out. He walked to Dublin (to the Congress) and back and boots on him and soles four inches deep on them. He loves to tell stories of olden times and of all he came through and about simple people of long ago, not like the ignorant people of today.
    Ned Duffy is also a hero. He is over seventy years of age and can dance as fresh as if he were only twenty.
