    the people on St Bridget's day made crosses out of rushes and pinned them to the roof of each house.
    The children on St Patrick's day wore little crosses made of card board with green ribbon twined in and out.
    On Whit Sunday you are not to go near water or it will pull you in. Any animal born on this day will kill someone or himself.
    On May Eve children strewed may flowers on every door steep to keep away the faries.
