    Forsake of health I took a walk, last week at early dawn

    I often have abused the beast,
    With this rough hazel rod,
    And though I own, I never did drive,
    Poor Jack without been shod,
    The harness now upon his back,
    Was made by John Ma Gee.
    He is dead this four and forty years
    Said the turf-man from Adree.
    Just then a female's voice I heard,]
    I knew it very well,
    Pulightly she asked this old man,
    If his load of turf - he would sell.
    I shook that trembling hand of his,
    And bowed respectfully,
    In hopes to meet in future days,
    The turf-man from Ardee.
