   Old Ireland you robbed and made poor;
   Colonel Lynch is the boy that will cage you,
   And the Boers won't relieve you I'm sure
   He told us each country he travelled
   In absolute freedom he'd seen,
   And why not the gem of the ocean
   Get the keys of her own College Green;

   Said John, "We'll shake hands like good neighbors,
   Your members all tough in fine style;
   Home Rule is in all my dominions,
   Why not in the Emerald Isle.
   And now the elections are over,
   The powers of the lords is no more;
