    On the north side of the road leading from Garranboy new church to Finlea, about half a mile from he church and a hundred yards from the road, there is a large rock still well known as the 'mass rock' .Here in the year the year 1760 a priest was offering mass in the open air. The priest was employed as a labouring man in the house of an ancestor of John Scanlan ,Garranloy House Killable and thus managed to escape the attention of the military authorities and their spies . Mass was offered on this rock Sunday after Sunday . A large congregation many from the town of Killable here attended mass while mass was being
